EDITING
Editing a text involves seeking a clearer, more concise, and well-structured wording that facilitates its subsequent reading. For this, textual logic, coherence and cohesion are essential components that guarantee the fluidity of a text. In general, except in the case of some literary texts, less convulsive texts with a simple structure convey the information to reader in a better way. Hence, the tone of our text will determine if it is appropriate for our purposes or not. In the case of academic texts, the correct inclusion of citations is also part of the editing process.
PROOFREADING SERVICES
Unlike editing, proofreading is usually carried out during the last phase and before a text is published or disseminated. During this process, special emphasis is placed on checking for errors, misspellings, correct punctuation, and misprints in a document. In the case of style correction of a document that has been translated –from Spanish to English, or vice versa–, it is suggested that a prior step be editing it. During this phase, more detailed work is required since it involves the recurring comparison of the files in both languages. Style correction is carried out simultaneously with the editing of the text in the target language.
